We Aren’t That Stupid

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Contributing Author: Caroline Picard

I’m once again watching The President of the United States speak; this time it’s an online town hall meeting. Once again he is explaining what he plans to do. Why? Why does he continually have to explain what he is planning to do. We are not that stupid, we understand, we understand the word Trillion, it means we are screwed as a nation, that’s what we understand. It’s like my Dad always said “Tis better to remain silent and to be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt”. Mr. President you may want to pay attention to that.

I am all in favor of fixing our educational system, go for it. Better pay for teachers, great, I come from a family of educators, my cousin Cecil Picard was head of the education department of the state of Louisiana. He was a great teacher, and I learned a lot from him. But it wasn’t just him or the great teachers that I had, it was me, I wanted to learn. My Mom read to us early, my brother, sister and I could read before we started school. That’s early education. But then she had our attention, we didn’t have anything to distract us back then i.e. a cell phone or the TV, gameboy, playstation, etc. We had something called “imagination”. She taught us to be curious and question what you didn’t understand. She taught us not to just accept something because it seemed to be the norm. Our Dad taught us how to survive, change a tire, grow some food, and to stand up for ourselves. They both taught us to fight for our rights and not to except handouts, work for your money and learn your trade.

You could have the world top scholars teaching some of these kids today and it would matter one bit. They do not want to learn, they don’t care, why, because the parents don’t care. It starts at home, early education comes from the parents, and grandparents. But that is very hard to do when Mom and Dad don’t exist in most cases, it’s just Mom. Dad is no where to be found. There are times that I speak with this generation and see nothing. If the eyes are the windows to the soul, then we are in end times. It scares me to think of what this wonderful country will be in 10 years. They have no survival instincts, none.

President Obama wants to give all of us Medical insurance, really, and just how do you plan to do that sir? Again, you cannot control human nature, only One can do that and He allows us free will. Preventive medicine to me means that you will stop us from what the government feels is bad for us. Oh stupid me, I’m so ignorant that the government has to tell me what I am doing wrong. Cut costs in Medicare and Medicad, hey Mr. President that’s for the children and seniors, and oh, oh, the illegals that are draining our economy. Don’t think Caroline, you will hurt yourself.

Of all I have been hearing in the last 60 something days of this administration, this has to irk me the most. It’s when I hear these economists, these experts in finance say; “the younger generation will recoup, but the seniors will probably not be able to retire”. Really, Mr. Expert? Okay junior, sit down and listen to this. We sat back way too long and let you geniuses run this country. We watched and listened while you talked down to us like we are six year olds, but no more. Times are a changing all right and the revolution is coming, but it’s the one we started 40 years ago and damn we dropped the ball on that. For some stupid reason we felt the need to “not” raise you children like our parents did. Boy, was that a mistake. We gave you everything and you did nothing, my Dad gave me nothing and I have been to do everything I set out to do.

We need to go back to this system. Right and wrong, no more of this gray area BS, it’s either right or wrong. You put your hand in the fire, IT’S GOING TO BURN YOU.

Watching this town hall meeting, one woman wanted to know how we are going to bring back the jobs that went overseas. Madam I can answer this for you, we aren’t, because the generations today have no skills to do these jobs and they don’t want to. All of sudden, people who didn’t want to wash dishes, now seem to think that okay. Sorry my friend, it’s too late, you don’t know the first thing about washing dishes and working 12 hours a day. Some want to bring the unions back, not me baby, leave my WalMart alone. I really don’t want to pay $5.00 for a peach. For those that have come to this country “illegally”, but have worked hard and pay taxes, then they should be able to get their green cards and work on their citizenship. I know how to plant and pick fruit, do I want to do it, no, so let those that can do.

And you know what Mr. Obama and to every President that sits in “Our House”. We are paying your rent, technically it’s our house, not yours. Same with all our “hired help politicans”, you work for us, Nancy, Barney, Chris, Harry, you got that, you work for us. And if I own part of AIG, then I want to be able to go to the offices and pick out something pretty for my house, and I’m looking forward to that dividend check. If the White House is “our house”, the “house of the people”, then it’s on, Saturday night I’m at “the house” and there’s a BBQ going on. Come on Michelle, let’s pick some of those veggies and throw them on the grill.

Let me and some of my friends question the politicians in the house and senate, let us ask the hard questions. Frankly I’m tired of them talking to us like we are six year olds, we know what you are saying and it’s “nothing”, absolutely, nothing.

We are changing the way we look at the “War on Terror”, no that’s a bad name, we could offend the “terror type people”, we need to “talk nice to them”. Contingency Overseas, really, well when I get to Iraq on April 8th and while I’m there for 10 days I will be sure to ask our men and women there that are fighting the “contingency” what they think. Ummmm, sounds like Police Action doesn’t it for those who read a “real” history book, or maybe lived it.

This is all I have to say now, but please understand I will be back and I will have more to say. Oops, one more thing on the “bailouts”, please, why does this surprise anyone? Of course we “bailout” people, it’s all we’ve been doing for the last 30 something years. You’ve done it with your kids people. Heaven forbid that they learn responsibility. “Oh no, not my child.” “He/she would never do that” so, don’t worry we will “bail you out”, “we’ll protect you”again, and again and again.

People You Won’t See On The News

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

While a handful of Acorn drones got plenty of exposure while they went on bus tours of former AIG employees there are thousands of people attending tea parties, protests and rallies across the country that you’ll never see on TV.

American citizens from coast to coast are beginning to stir, they are finding their voice and demanding to be heard!

This really quite exciting to be a part of it, to experience the energy, to watch it all come together.

While it’s great to see all the activity, it’s important to note that we’ve only begun.  We need to keep stirring the bucket, talking to friends and co-workers, attending rallies, calling Congress.

I can see we’re already having some effect.  Arlen Specter has said that he will NOT support the Card Check Bill; that’s huge.  We now have enough on the right side (assuming we all stick together on this) and filibuster and kill it.

Cap and Trade Will Be Costly

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

The President has to be aware that citizens are pretty upset over all the nonsense that he and the democrat led congress have been involved with over the past few weeks.  It has occured to me that they don’t believe in global warming any more than you or I do – they’re just playing the climate card to grab even more power.

We better rattle the cages of the folks still in support of Obama – the cost of this Cap and Trade baloney is a killer; and it will do nothing to adjust the climate one way or another.  The only adjustment will be learning to live without heat and lights.

Remember, this is what Obama said about Cap and Trade when he was running for office.

The problem is not technical, and the problem is not sufficient mastery of the legislative intricacies of Washington.

The problem is can you get the American people to say this is really important and force their representatives to do the right thing? That requires mobilizing a citizenry. That requires them understanding what is at stake, and climate change is a great example.

When I was asked earlier about the issue of coal…under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket…even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad, because I’m capping greenhouse gasses, coal power plants, natural gas…you name it…whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retro-fit their operations.

That will cost money…they will pass that money on to the consumers. You can already see what the arguments are going to be during the general election.  People will say Obama and Al Gore …these folks…they’re going to destroy the economy.

This is going to cost us 8 trillion dollars or whatever their number is.  If you can’t persuade the American people that, yes,  there is going to be  some increase on electricity rates on the front end, but that over the long term, because of combinations of more efficient energy usage and changing light bulbs and more efficient appliances, but also technology improving how we can produce clean energy that the economy will benefit.

If we can’t make that argument persuasively enough, you can be Lyndon Johnson.  You can be the master of Washington.  You’re not gonna get that done.

Code of Ethics for U.S. Government Service

Friday, March 13th, 2009

I didn’t know that such a document even existed, but it does.  You can see for yourself at Historical Summary of Conduct Cases in the House of Representatives .  It’s elegantly simple, beautifully clear and blatantly disregarded by members of congress.

Code of Ethics for U.S. Government Service

Adopted July 11, 1958

Resolved by the House of Representatives {the Senate concurring}, That it is the sense of the Congress that the following Code of Ethics should be adhered to by all Government employees, including officeholders.

CODE OF ETHICS FOR GOVERNMENT SERVICE

Any person in Government service should:

1. Put loyalty to the highest moral principals and to country above loyalty to Government persons, party, or department.

2. Uphold the Constitution, laws, and legal regulations of the United States and of all governments therein and never be a party to their evasion.

3. Give a full day’s labor for a full day’s pay; giving to the performance of his duties his earnest effort and best thought.

4. Seek to find and employ more efficient and economical ways of getting tasks accomplished.

5. Never discriminate unfairly by the dispensing of special favors or privileges to anyone, whether for remuneration or not; and never accept for himself or his family, favors or benefits under circumstances which might be construed by reasonable persons as influencing the performance of his governmental duties.

6. Make no private promises of any kind binding upon the duties of office, since a Government employee has no private word which can be binding on public duty.

7. Engage in no business with the Government, either directly or indirectly which is inconsistent with the conscientious performance of his governmental duties.

8. Never use any information coming to him confidentially in the performance of governmental duties as a means for making private profit.

9. Expose corruption wherever discovered.

10. Uphold these principles, ever conscious that public office is a public trust.

CT Freedom Fighters Score!

The Connecticut State Legislature was scheduled to discuss Bill 1098 today.  The bill is designed to force the Catholic church to reorganize

If you are not up on the details, of a story Deacon Greg writes “landed like a grenade, yesterday”, here it is, in a nutshell:

According to the First Amendment and the Establishment Clause, the government has no business dictating to religious organizations how they should structure themselves. In Connecticut, though, some lawmakers seem to have skipped over the Constitution. A new bill will require Catholic parishes and dioceses — and only Catholics — to organize their parish leadership in a way that pleases the Connecticut legislature;

The [Democrats] Lawlor-and-McDonald-controlled Judiciary Committee has introduced Raised Bill 1098, a bill aimed specifically at the Catholic Church, which would remove the authority of the bishop and pastor over individual parishes and put a board of laymen in their place…

…Lest you think this is a joke, American Papist has Lawlor’s response to criticism. He admits that the state legislature wants to dictate the structure of this volunteer organization…

via CT Gov’t wants to control the Church – UPDATED | The Anchoress.

It is horrific that the government would show such blatant disregard for the First Amendment -

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The good news is that the legislators scurried away like cockroaches when citizen freedom fighters responded strongly against the bill.

The bill has been tabled; for the time being.  Legislators have shown their colors; they are willing to void the Constitution to get a measure of control of the church.  I have no doubt in my mind that they would ultimately destroy the church altogether.

So, enjoy your victory Freedom Fighters – you’ve done a good job; but stay vigilant.

Remember This Valentine’s Day Story?

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

I remember hearing about this horrific story on Valentine’s Day.  What I find peculiar is that I haven’t heard a word about it since then.

TV newspeople are normally shoving their microphones in the faces of bereaved family and friends asking how they feel while the coroner is wheeling their loved one away from the crime scene, so don’t tell me it’s out of respect.

Read the story again and leave your comments about what you think.  Why is the media avoiding followup on this story?

Muzzammil Hassan, right, founder of Bridges TV, is charged with murder in the beheading of his wife, Aasiya Hassan, left, in Orchard Park.

Prominent Orchard Park man charged with beheading his wife

News Staff Reporter

Orchard Park police are investigating a particularly gruesome killing, the beheading of a woman, after her husband — an influential member of the local Muslim community — reported her death to police Thursday.

Police identified the victim as Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37. Detectives have charged her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder.

“He came to the police station at 6:20 p.m. [Thursday] and told us that she was dead,” Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew Benz said late this morning.

Muzzammil Hassan told police that his wife was at his business, Bridges TV, on Thorn Avenue in the village. Officers went to that location and discovered her body.

Muzzammil Hassan is the founder and chief executive officer of Bridges TV, which he launched in 2004, amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light.

The killing apparently occurred some time late Thursday afternoon. Detectives still are looking for the murder weapon.

“Obviously, this is the worst form of domestic violence possible,” Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III said today.

Authorities say Aasiya Hassan recently had filed for divorce from her husband.

“She had an order of protection that had him out of the home as of Friday the 6th [of February],” Benz said.

Muzzammil Hassan was arraigned before Village Justice Deborah Chimes and sent to the Erie County Holding Center.

Obama’s First Six Weeks

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

President Obama’s first six weeks have been a disaster at best and kind of scary.

The good news is that the real patriots in the country are starting to awake. We need to understand that our Republic was never intended for disinterested citizens. We simply can’t count on people in Congress; there’s too much power, too much money at stake. The people need to get it back in control and keep it that way.

Come back and visit often.  Consider registering and writing your own articles here, or commenting on the ones already here.  We need to share our thoughts and ideas on how to fix this mess.

Obama’s Hope and Change

Friday, March 6th, 2009

Remember back, during the campaign and all those Obama supporters that had their own ideas about what Hope and Change was all about.  I couldn’t help but wonder what those folks were thinking.  I think someone has figured it out.

Study American History

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

Action step number one for American Freedom Fighters is to Study America’s History.

The United States has a unique and remarkable history.  Our founding fathers were brilliant in crafting our government and how it’s supposed to work.

Generations of politicians later it seems to have morphed into something completely different.

When you KNOW the truth about our constitution, bill of rights, our history; then NO one will be able to pull the wool over your eyes.  You can explain the truthful history of our great country to your children and grandchildren and thereby passing the promise of liberty from generation to generation.

The last time most of even pretended to take a look at this stuff was when were in grade school.  That was a long time ago and you will want to know more than names and dates; you’ll want to understand what they were thinking and their motivation.

Note: Choose your books carefully, some books that represent themselves as historical references have out and out lies and twisted viewpoints.  Unfortunatly, the library may not be the best source for your study materials; remember that libraries are government funded for the most part.  (Sigh, … this is so sad; having to warn you of such things.)

I have started my collection with two books written by William J. Bennett; America: The Last Best Hope Volumes I & II.  Bill Bennett is a former Secretary of Education (1985 to 1988) and the host of a radio program “Morning in America”.  I think he’s clear headed and honest.

I’ll update this post with other recommended reading, your own thoughts are welcome.
